KSHSAA Sectional Playoffs
The Dodge City High School football program will travel to Derby to take on the Derby High “Panthers” on Friday Night in a second round Sectional playoff game. The Demons defeated Topeka High, 35-14, to advance to the Sectional round while Derby defeated Wichita Northwest, 21-14.
The winner of the Dodge City versus Derby contests will hosts the winner of the Wichita Heights versus Manhattan contest, for a chance to advance to the 6A State Championship in Topeka.

Series History
Friday night will mark the sixth time these teams have met on the football field.
The Panthers lead the series (3-2), with all five games being played in the post-season. The Red Demons faced the Panthers for the first time in 1982, with the Panthers triumphing, 32-26, in double overtime. The most recent meeting between the teams was during the 1994 season, with the Panthers winning 19-0. The Panthers went on to win the State Championship in 1994.
Dodge City recorded the largest margin of victory between the teams in 1987 by a score of 44-22. Ironically, the Demons then played Manhattan in Dodge City for the opportunity to play for a State Championship, losing 13-0.

The Dodge City High School football program will travel to Garden City on Friday Night for the annual Hatchet Rivalry game. The Demons clinched the District 8 Championship with their Week #8 win over Maize, 35-14, while Garden City was eliminated from playoff contention with a, 21-14, loss to Goddard. Goddard and Maize will meet Friday night to determine the last playoff spot in District 8.
The Demons will return on November 6th to Dodge City’s Memorial Stadium to host a first round Regional Playoff game versus an opponent to be determined after the end of District play on Friday Night.

Series History
Friday night will mark the 107th time these teams have met in this storied rivalry. The Red Demons have faced the Buffaloes (106) times, dating back to the 1903 season. The series is led by the Demons (68-34-4). The Demons wrestled the “Hatchet” away from the Buffaloes last season ending the Buffs long winning streak in the rivalry. In 1938 the series was livened by the addition of the hatchet. The winner takes the hatchet as evidence of supremacy on the field of play. Dodge City leads in Hatchet games 45-25-1.

District Play Begins

The Dodge City High School football program will travel to Goddard this Friday to begin District 8 play. The Demons are coming off their second consecutive WAC loss, while the defending District Champions, Goddard, have yet to register a win during the Fall campaign.
The Demons return home for Senior Night next Friday Night as they host the Maize “Eagles”. Maize travels to Garden City for Friday night’s other District contest. Garden City will host Goddard in week #2 of District play.

Series History
The Demons and Lions have met only three times on the football field, with Goddard winning the last two contests. Last season, the “Lions” entered District play without a win, only to run the table in the District with three straight wins. The Red Demons are looking to return to the playoffs, as their only 2008 District loss came at the hands of the “Lions”, in overtime, at Memorial Stadium.
Goddard enters the contest after playing a brutal non-District schedule that included some of the top teams in the State at the 5A and 6A levels.

Homecoming – 2009

The Dodge City High School football program will host the Hays High Indians this Friday night at Dodge City’s Memorial Stadium. The game is slated for a 7:00 kick-off, and is the Homecoming contest for the Fall 2009 season. DCHS is coming off of a (28-27) defeat to Great Bend for its first loss of the season. Hays defeated Wichita South to remain undefeated on the season, and are the lone undefeated team in WAC play.
The Red Demons open District play at Goddard next Friday Night.

The Red Demons have faced the Indians 66 times, dating back to the 1932 season. The series is led by the Demons 47-17-2. The Demons won last year’s contest, 34-27 in triple overtime at Lewis Field in Hays.
This is the last contest before District play for both teams. Dodge City will host Goddard to begin the quest for the two available playoff spots in District 8.

The Dodge City High School football program will travel to play the Great Bend “Panthers” this Friday night at Great Bend’s Memorial Stadium. The game is slated for a 7:00 kick-off. DCHS is coming off of a (55-17) defeat of Liberal in the conference opener for the Red Demons. Great Bend defeated Wichita Heights (28-26) – in a thrilling last second victory.
Dodge City will host Hays for Homecoming in Week #6.

Due to the generous support of the Dodge City Daily Globe, the DCHS Athletic Department is pleased to announce ELEMENTARY NIGHT on Friday, September 25, as the Dodge City Red Demons take on the Liberal Redskins. The first (100) students, K-6, will receive a Red Demon backpack at the South entrance.
